REBECCA WEST: The length of a divorce case depends on the level of conflict in the case. Some cases resolve quickly because the parties are motivated to settle. Other cases last for more than a year sometimes simply because there are legitimate legal issues that need to be decided.
We understand that facts change in divorce cases all the time and a lot of times opposing party's positions change, which require us to be flexible in our strategy. We have to understand that cases don't always resolve the way we think they're going to resolve at the beginning.
We're dealing with very personal and sometimes very sensitive issues. It's critical that our attorneys have a good personal relationship with a client.
What our experience allows us to do is to provide a client with information about trends in the law and about risk assessment so that we can decide what positions are the best for our clients to take and help to satisfy the client's goal for long-term asset management.
