Chip Burn was admitted to the practice of law in South Carolina in November of 2001, and joined the Law Office of Richard J. Breibart, LLC in February of 2011.
Mr. Burn is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. After graduation, Mr. Burn worked for several years as a real estate appraiser in the Assessor's offices of Cherokee and Lexington counties.
In May of 2001, Mr. Burn received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While attending law school, he served as an Associate Editor for the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal, and he authored a casenote in the Spring 2000 edition of that publication. During law school, he was also employed as a law clerk at civil litigation firms, conducting legal research in the areas of torts law, contract law and property law, among others.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Burn worked as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable J.C. "Buddy" Nicholson of the Tenth Judicial Circuit During his clerkship, Mr. Burn's duties included researching the various legal issues that arise in Circuit Court, as well as assisting in drafting Court orders. He also assisted Judge Nicholson on the bench in the conduct of various trials and hearings, both civil and criminal. After his judicial clerkship, Mr. Burn was employed with a civil litigation firm located in Columbia, South Carolina from August of 2002 to March of 2004, when he went to work for the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor's Office. While at the Solicitor's Office, he gained valuable experience in bringing numerous cases to trial and effectively managing and prosecuting a substantial criminal caseload.
Mr. Burn lives in the town of Lexington with his wife, Betsy and his two children, Connor and Riley.
