Jesse Near was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in November 2008, and joined the Law Office of Richard J. Breibart, LLC, in April 2010.

Mr. Near is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he obtained separate Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Business Management. Following graduation, Mr. Near worked with the South Carolina Department of Revenue where he performed routine audits of corporate tax returns and issued various tax assessments.

In May 2008, Mr. Near received his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law. At the law school, he served as an Articles Editor for the Federal Courts Law Review and received an award for the best spading member of the journal in 2006. During his first summer as a law student, he returned to the South Carolina Department of Revenue as a law clerk for the Tax Policy Division in the Office of the General Counsel. Under the supervision of Department attorneys and accountants, he conducted legal research in the areas of individual and corporate income tax and contributed to Department publications. During his final summer as a law student, he worked full time as a legal intern for the Honorable David C. Norton, Chief United States District Court Judge, Charleston Division. During this time, he conducted legal research and assisted in drafting bench memoranda and Court orders. He also attended Judge Norton's hearings, trials, and criminal sentencings.  

Following graduation from law school, Mr. Near worked as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Amy W. McCulloch and the Honorable Jacqueline D. Belton of the Richland County Probate Court. During his clerkship, Mr. Near conducted detailed legal research and prepared written orders for all estate, trust, guardianship, and conservatorship proceedings. He also attended hundreds of probate hearings, trials, and conferences involving both practicing attorneys and pro se litigants.  

Mr. Near is a resident of Lexington County and is happily married to his wife Ashleigh, who is a guidance counselor at Lexington Middle School.
